Our Story

My name is Nadia Dawood and I am the founder of Liyaan.
Liyaan was established in 2020 when I noticed a gap in the market for beautiful leather Qur'aan covers.

As a hifz student, I spent a large amount of time reading and engaging with my Qur'aan (The Islamic Holy Book), which brought me to the realisation that I needed a beautiful and long lasting cover considering how much I was using my Quran.
My father always taught me about the beauty, longevity and charm of natural leather. After looking around, I came to the conclusion that there were very few leather Quran covers available, so I decided to make my own, as I wanted something contemporary and beautiful.

Our goal for Liyaan was not only to protect the Quran but also to try and increase the love and attachment that our fellows Muslims have for the Qur’an. By enrobing it in a beautiful long lasting leather cover we hope to ensure that the Most Noble Qur’aan is always treasured and honoured as it should be.

After much research and with the help of my husband, Muhammed and brother in law, Adnan, the three of us have managed to establish a business that manufactures and produces original and contemporary designs using the finest quality full grain leather. Each product is designed by us and crafted locally in South Africa.
